Job Title: Senior Legal Officer


Location: Ajah, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Senior Legal Officer will provide comprehensive legal support to the Group, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, protect the company’s legal interests, and manage contracts, disputes, and regulatory engagements.
  • The ideal candidate must be proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced in real estate transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal agreements including property transactions, MOUs, NDAs, vendor contracts, and partnership agreements.
  • Provide advisory support on real estate matters, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and business operations.
  • Conduct due diligence on properties, titles, and corporate documents.
  • Liaise with external solicitors, government agencies, and regulatory bodies (e.g., Lands Registry, CAC).
  • Manage litigation and dispute resolution, ensuring proper documentation and timely follow-up.
  • Support company secretarial functions such as board meetings, minutes, resolutions, and statutory filings.
  • Monitor and interpret new laws, policies, and regulations affecting real estate and corporate operations.
  • Prepare internal legal reports, briefs, and compliance updates for management.
  • Provide legal training and guidance to business units as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • LL.B & B.L, with a valid call to the Nigerian Bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-call experience, preferably within the real estate sector or a corporate legal department.
  • Strong knowledge of property law, contract law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven experience handling property transactions and title verifications is a major advantage.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • High ethical standards with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.
