Summary
- The Senior Social Performance Adviser will support in the overseeing of the delivery of community programs, lead field Implementation, and manage the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework for all social performance initiatives.
- This role ensures that projects are executed efficiently, generate measurable impact, and meet all regulatory and internal reporting requirements.
- The role serves as a critical execution and learning engine within the broader social performance strategy.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Technical & Strategic Analysis Support:
- Asset Performance Monitoring: Track, monitor, and analyze the operational and technical performance of all key onshore and shallow offshore assets, including well performance, reservoir management, and production metrics.
- Prepare consolidated performance dashboards for the MD.
Technical Briefs & Due Diligence:
- Prepare concise technical briefs, summaries, and recommendations on complex engineering and geoscience reports, capital projects, asset integrity, and new technology adoption.
- Feasibility and Investment Support: Conduct preliminary technical and economic analysis, market research, and competitor benchmarking to support the MD's evaluation of business expansion, asset acquisition, and investment opportunities.
- Project Tracking: Oversee and track the implementation progress of key strategic and operational projects, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and managing interdepartmental coordination to mitigate execution risks.
Executive Communication & Liaison:
- Reporting & Presentations: Prepare high-quality executive reports, board papers, policy documents, and compelling presentations that articulate technical and financial narratives for internal and external stakeholders, including government regulators (NUPRC, NMDPRA) and financiers.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as a primary liaison between the MD and departmental heads, joint venture partners, government officials, and key contractors, facilitating clear and effective communication on technical matters.
- MD Representation: Attend critical internal and external meetings, conferences, and stakeholder engagements with or on behalf of the MD, capturing key discussions, action points, and ensuring timely follow-up on directives. 3. Operational & Regulatory Compliance
- Policy & Compliance Tracking: Assist the MD in monitoring compliance with Nigerian oil and gas regulations, environmental policies (HSE), and industry best practices relevant to onshore and shallow offshore operations. Risk Mitigation: Identify potential operational, technical, and regulatory risks across the asset base and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies to the MD.
Administrative Support: Manage the MD's extremely active calendar, complex travel logistics (domestic and international), and confidential correspondence, ensuring a high level of discretion and professionalism.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering. Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Geology, or a related technical field. An MBA or Master's degree in a relevant area (e.g., Oil & Gas Management, Finance) is a significant advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant
- experience in a technical, operations, or strategy role within the upstream Oil and Gas industry in Nigeria, with demonstrable exposure to onshore and/or shallow
- offshore terrain.
- Certifications: Relevant industry certifications (e.g., PMP, Nigerian Society of Engineers/COREN registration) are desirable.
Key Competencies & Skills:
- Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of E&P lifecycle, reservoir engineering fundamentals, drilling operations, production technology, and asset integrity management, particularly in the Niger Delta context.
- Analytical Prowess: Excellent analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize large amounts of complex technical and business data into actionable insights.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to draft high-quality reports, presentations, and correspondence for an executive audience.
- Discretion & Professionalism: Unwavering commitment to confidentiality and the ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of discretion.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), data analysis tools, and experience with project management software.
