SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to, interpreting and analyzing complex accounting records and financial statements, including general accounting, costing, or budget data per Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and the general ledger.
- Prepare accurate financial statements and reports.
- Reconcile accounts and ensure proper documentation of transactions.
- Implement internal controls and financial best practices.
- Manage tax compliance, including VAT, PAYE, and company tax.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Collaborate with auditors and ensure compliance with Nigerian financial regulations.
- Perform any other duties within the job scope as assigned or delegated.
- Performs other related duties as and when required including emergency call-out and standby duties.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A combination of the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or equivalent experience and 5 or more years of accounting experience and successful completion fully qualified Chartered Accountant
- Knowledge of auditing practices and principles
- Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations
- Knowledge and experience of related computer applications
- Possess adequate supervisory skills needed to lead a team efficiently.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently to build and improve the company's financial processes.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in the management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis, auditing, taxation, and providing financial advice
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IFRS.
- Knowledge of Nigerian federal and state financial regulations.
