Registered account holders on CorpeRate (“Users”), create accounts using their professional identities which allows them build networks with other Users, post and view ideas and opinions, share various kind of media, apply to promoted job opportunities and exchange communications with other Users. Our Privacy Policy applies to all our Users and states how we store and process the information they provide in creating accounts and all the content they upload during their use of the Services.
To use our Services you will have to create an account for yourself or on behalf of some legal entity. If you choose to create an account, you will be required to submit some personal information to use the Services. This will include your real name, email address, password, and mobile number etc. If you decide to verify your account, you will need to provide your payment and billing information as well as more confidential information.
You are not required to provide any additional information on your profile such as education history, work experience, interests, skills etc. However, you are encouraged to do so as it will ensure you get the most from our Services as well as facilitate your ability to network and secure potential job opportunities. CorpeRate, does not require Users to include sensitive personal information in their profile. As such, please only post or add personal information that you would want to be made publicly available. You are responsible for you profile and the information you upload through our Services. Therefore, you are advised to be mindful of the information you choose to make public.
You are required to provide us with your contact information such as your email address or phone number which we use to authenticate your account and keep CorpeRate safe. We also use this information to send you important information about our Services, updates and so on.
To securely set up and maintain your account, we log your usage data from when you use any of our Services. We collect this information using your IP address, cookies, device settings, and log-ins, to identify you and log your use.
A cookie is a small piece of data that is stored on your computer or mobile device. Like many websites, we use cookies and similar technologies to collect additional website usage data and to operate our Services.
We provide features that allow you to communicate privately with other Users. We collect information when you engage in private messaging, this includes link scanning of your messages for malicious or abusive content. We also collect information regarding the Users you are in communication with and when, however, not the actual content of the communications.
We do all this to ensure the safety and security of our services and to manage or block all content that violates the Terms of our User Agreement.
We may share or disclose your personal data with your consent or at your direction, such as when you pay for the verification feature directing us to verify your personal information with the NYSC database.
We may share your private personal data with such service providers subject to obligations consistent with this Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures, and on the condition that the third parties use your private personal data only on our behalf and pursuant to our instructions.
We share your payment information with payment service providers to process payments; prevent, detect, and investigate fraud or other prohibited activities; facilitate dispute resolution such as chargebacks or refunds; and for other purposes associated with the acceptance of credit and debit cards.
We may preserve, use, or disclose your personal data or other safety data if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to protect the safety of any person; to protect the safety or integrity of our platform, including to help prevent spam, abuse, or malicious actors on our Services, or to explain why we have removed content or accounts from our Services; to address fraud, security, or technical issues; or to protect our rights or property or the rights or property of those who use our Services.
We may use the information you provide to encourage verification, network growth or other engagement with our services. For example we may show other Users in your networks that you have chosen to be verified.
We use data from your usage, including public feedback, to conduct developmental research to improve the Services we provide to all our Users. This includes for example, providing a more intuitive user experience that more efficiently assists User networking or the CorpeRate job recruitment process.
We may also use your data to generate statistics (that do not identify you) about our members, their profession or industry, to publish visitor demographics for a service or create demographic workforce insights.
In the event of a sale, merger, acquisition or any change in ownership or control of our Services, your personal data may be acquired, transferred or shared with the new controlling entity. However, the usage of your information will continue to be subject to this Privacy Policy, unless agreed otherwise.
Should you create a CorpeRate account, you will be provided with the choice to manage the collection, use and storage of some of your information. We provide the options to access, delete, correct or modify the information you provide whilst using our services.
Through your account, you can decide to delete some of your information such as your posts, preferences or professional history. You can also delete your CorpeRate account and affiliated data from our Services. When your account is deleted, your CorpeRate account including your public profile and posts will no longer be viewable on CorpeRate.ng, CorpeRate for iOS and CorpeRate for Android. Keep in mind that this process is permanent and irrevocable.
We regularly monitor and test our systems to prevent attacks and protect your information, using security safeguards such as HTTPS. However we do not guarantee the security of any information that you provide to us, nor do we guarantee that such data may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or tampered with, due to breach of our security or managerial protocols.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time so our processing and use of your data will be governed by the most current version of this Policy. If we do make any substantial changes to this Policy, we will notify you via the contact information you have provided. Should you continue to use or access the services after those changes are employed, you will be taken to have agreed to be bound by the updated Privacy Policy.
You have the right to take any complaints about how we process your personal data to the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA): dpo@nitda.gov.ng.
