Job Title: Accountant

Position Overview
- We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to manage the financial records and transactions of our retail store in Lagos.
- This mid-level position involves handling daily accounting operations, preparing financial reports, and ensuring accurate record-keeping in compliance with accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Accounting Operations:
- Record daily sales transactions and cash receipts
- Process invoices, payments, and vendor bills
- Reconcile daily cash and bank transactions
- Manage petty cash and expense reimbursements
- Monitor accounts receivable and payable
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reports
- Generate profit and loss statements
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
- Prepare tax returns and statutory remittances (VAT, WHT, PAYE)
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
Inventory & Stock Management:
- Monitor inventory records and stock values
- Reconcile physical stock counts with accounting records
- Track cost of goods sold and inventory movements
- Prepare inventory reports for management review
Payroll & Staff Matters:
- Process monthly staff salaries and wages
- Calculate and remit staff taxes and pension contributions
- Maintain payroll records and employee financial files
- Handle salary advances and loan deductions
Compliance & Administration:
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and filing deadlines
- Liaise with auditors and tax authorities when required
- Maintain proper filing of financial documents
- Support budget preparation and financial planning
Required Qualifications
Education & Professional Certification:
- HND / Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- ATS/ICAN in view or partially completed (desirable)
- 2-4 years of accounting experience
- Retail or FMCG experience preferred
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, or similar)
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
- Understanding of VAT, WHT, and PAYE regulations
- Familiarity with basic bookkeeping principles
- Knowledge of financial reporting standards
Personal Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good analytical and numerical skills
- Honest and trustworthy with high integrity
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Basic communication skills for reporting
Salary
N100,000 - N150,000 Monthly.
