Job Title: Accounts Officer

Location: Utako, Abuja (FCT) 

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The Accounts Officer is responsible for managing and overseeing daily accounting activities, including financial record keeping, preparation of financial statements, reconciliation of accounts, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • The role ensures accuracy, timeliness, and integrity in financial reporting while supporting the organization in making informed financial decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, examine, and maintain accurate financial records, statements, and reports.
  • Post and reconcile journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Manage payroll processing and ensure timely payment of salaries and statutory deductions (e.g., tax, pensions, NHF).
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and budgets.
  • Monitor and reconcile bank statements and ensure proper cash flow management.
  • Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws, financial regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper classification of all transactions.
  • Support in preparing management reports for decision-making.
  • Track company expenses, prepare cost analyses, and recommend cost-saving measures.
  • Safeguard company assets by implementing internal financial controls.
  • Work closely with procurement, HR, and operations teams to align financial procedures.

Requirements

  • Candidate Must reside in Abuja, Preferably around Utako.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven work experience as an Accountant or in a similar role for at least a year.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, or ERP systems) and MS Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
