Role Summary

  • The Assistant HSE Manager will support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company's health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs across its retail, depot, and office operations.
  • The role involves assisting in overseeing HSE activities, conducting risk assessments, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving continuous improvement through data-driven analytics.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining HSE policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct and support risk assessments; recommend and implement control measures.
  • Monitor compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations.
  • Support in planning and conducting safety audits and preparing audit reports.
  • Participate in incident investigations; assist in root cause analysis and recommending corrective actions.
  • Maintain incident records and ensure timely reporting in line with company policies.
  • Support in developing and delivering HSE training programs and safety awareness initiatives.
  • Ensure personnel are trained in emergency response procedures and proper use of PPE.
  • Monitor environmental compliance, including waste management and pollution control.
  • Contribute to identifying and driving continuous improvement initiatives using analytics.
  • Promote a culture of safety by acting as a role model in HSE practices.
  • Support the development and coordination of emergency response plans and drills.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7-10 years of relevant HSE experience in a Depot within the oil & gas sector.
  • A Masters degree or professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, ISPON HSE Level 3) are preferred.
  • Minimum of 3years in a supervisory or team lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE management systems, risk assessments, incident investigations, and HSE analytics.
  • In-depth knowledge of oil & gas industry HSE regulations and standards.
  • Ability to analyze trends and recommend process improvements.


Salary

N600,000 - N1,00,000 per month.
