The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, leading tender and proposal activities, and growing the company's presence within Nigeria's oil and gas industry.
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in driving revenue, profitability, and long-term corporate growth.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement business development and market expansion strategies.
Identify and secure new business opportunities within the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors.
Source, negotiate, and close high-value contracts with IOCs, indigenous operators, EPC contractors, and government agencies.
Lead tender preparation, proposal development, and bid management activities.
Build and maintain strategic relationships with clients, OEMs, regulatory bodies, and industry stakeholders.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking engagements.
Liaise with regulatory agencies, including NUPRC, NCDMB, and NipeX.
Conduct market intelligence and competitor analysis to identify emerging opportunities.
Negotiate commercial terms and ensure profitable contract execution.
Work closely with finance, operations, and technical teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Prepare periodic business development reports and performance updates for executive management.
Mentor and supervise members of the business development team.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline. An MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development within the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
Demonstrable experience winning major contracts within the energy sector.
Strong understanding of NUPRC, NCDMB, and NipeX processes.
Existing network with IOCs, indigenous operators, EPC contractors, OEMs, and key industry stakeholders.
Excellent negotiation, proposal writing, and presentation skills.
Strong commercial, analytical, and strategic thinking abilities.
Proven leadership and people management experience.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and business acumen.
