Festival Hotel is a 4 star first class hotel with 471 rooms made up of classic, deluxe rooms and suites. The hotel is located in an expansive ground in a fantastic location with a serene atmosphere as well as a safe and secure environment. It offers facilities such as adult and children swimming pool, exotic tropicalised garden, conferencing and private function facilities, modern and well equipped table tennis and twin state of art squash court, well equipped state of art gym, jogging tracks, sauna and steam bath facilities. It has an expansive car park,excellent food and bevrage facilities with 2 restaurants offering local and international cuisine, in housing laundry and dry cleaning facilities, exotic art stands and an in house clinic. It also has gifts shops,a shopping mall and a cinema in the premises.


We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Chief Engineer

Location: Festac, Amuwo Odofin - Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate the engineering and maintenance team including electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, painters, and general technicians.
  • Plan duty rosters, assign tasks, and ensure timely completion of maintenance work.
  • Conduct training sessions to build technical skills, safety awareness, and operational efficiency.

Maintenance Oversight:

  • Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance is carried out on all equipment and facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, elevators, kitchen equipment, and swimming pools.
  • Implement and oversee a preventive maintenance schedule to minimize breakdowns and service disruptions.

Health, Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all local building codes, safety regulations, fire codes, and environmental laws.
  • Maintain proper safety protocols and ensure the engineering team follows lockout/tagout and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments of hotel facilities.

Budget and Cost Control:

  • Prepare and manage the department’s operational and capital expenditure budgets.
  • Monitor inventory and procurement of tools, materials, spare parts, and ensure cost-effective sourcing.
  • Evaluate and recommend energy-efficient systems to reduce operational costs.

Energy Management and Sustainability:

  • Develop and monitor energy-saving initiatives aligned with the hotel’s sustainability goals.
  • Optimize the use of energy, water, and other resources without compromising service standards.
  • Track and report utility consumption and identify areas for improvement.

Project Management:

  • Plan and execute renovation, refurbishment, and expansion projects in coordination with hotel management and external contractors.
  • Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the desired standard of quality.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and advise management on system upgrades or replacements.

Guest Satisfaction and Operational Support:

  • Quickly address and resolve any maintenance issues affecting guest comfort (e.g., air conditioning failures, electrical faults, water leaks).
  • Collaborate with front office and housekeeping to ensure a smooth and seamless guest experience.
  • Participate in guest complaint resolution related to engineering issues and follow up to ensure satisfaction.

Record Keeping and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, inspections, safety checks, and equipment servicing.
  • Submit regular reports to the General Manager on the condition of hotel assets, maintenance activities, and department performance.

Vendor and Contractor Management:

  • Liaise with external service providers, engineers, and contractors for outsourced maintenance or specialized technical work.
  • Evaluate contractor performance and ensure work is completed according to standards.

Emergency Preparedness:

  • Lead the engineering team during emergencies such as power failures, floods, fire alarms, or system breakdowns.
  • Participate in hotel emergency response planning and drills.

Qualifications

  • Interested candidates should possess a B.Eng, M.Eng or HND with 3-5 years experience.

Salary

N350,000 - N400,000 / Month.
