The Network for Health, Equity and Development (NHED) is a leading organization dedicated to promoting health, equity, and sustainable development through health leadership and governance, policy advocacy, human resource management, and development, health financing, health system research, digital health and health information management, service delivery, nutrition and innovative programming in Nigeria and the broader African region.
To support our expanding portfolio of projects and strategic initiatives, NHED is seeking highly qualified, dynamic, and experienced Short-Term Consultants across multiple technical and operational areas. The work may include field work, remote activities and participation in workshops.
Scope of Work & Positions Available
We are inviting applications from qualified professionals to fill short-term consultancy roles in the following categories:
- Climate Change and Resilient Health Systems Consultants: Support climate-health vulnerability assessments, develop strategies for climate-resilient healthcare infrastructure, integrate climate adaptation frameworks into primary healthcare, and for sustainable health system responses to environmental risks.
- Procurement and Supply Chain Management Consultants: Oversee, optimize, and streamline health procurement processes, logistics systems, inventory tracking, and supply chain strategies for essential health commodities.
- Health Management Information Systems (HMIS), Digital Solutions & Software Development Experts: Design, deploy, and manage digital health tools, health information systems (e.g., DHIS2), data analytics dashboards, and custom software applications to strengthen health data architecture.
- Business Development, Marketing & Public Relations Specialists: Drive strategic growth through proposal development, donor engagement, brand positioning, public relations, and innovative marketing campaigns for health programs and organizational initiatives.
- Demand Creation Specialists: Design, implement, and evaluate community-level mobilization strategies, social and behavior change communication (SBCC) campaigns, and stakeholder engagement frameworks to drive service uptake.
- Health Financing Experts: Conduct fiscal space analyses, track health expenditures, support resource mobilization, and contribute to policy dialogues on sustainable health financing, UHC, and domestic resource tracking.
- Immunization Technical Consultants: Provide technical assistance for routine immunization strengthening cold chain management, vaccine logistics, campaign planning, and coverage bottleneck analyses.
- Capacity Building Consultants (Middle-Level Managers): Develop training curricula, facilitate leadership and management training workshops, and mentor middle-level healthcare managers to enhance operational performance.
- Gender and Social Inclusion (GESI) Specialists: Ensure the integration of gender equity, human rights, and social inclusion principles across project designs, implementation frameworks, monitoring tools, and research activities.
- Ward Health System (WHS) Experts: Support the revitalization, strengthening, and functionality of Ward Health Committees and primary healthcare governance structures at the Local Government and grassroots level.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, Research & Learning (MERL) Experts: Develop research frameworks, design data collection tools, conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses, and draft comprehensive project reports
Key Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates applying for these short-term consultancy positions must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in public health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Communications, or a related field. (A Master's degree or higher will be a distinct advantage).
- Experience: At least 5 years of proven professional experience in development work, research, or program implementation, preferably with NGOs, international organizations, or public sector agencies.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines, and manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant data analysis or design tools.
- Strong team players with excellent capacity engage smoothly with stakeholders and the NHED team.
