Job Title: HR Manager in Retail Business

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

Performance Management:

  • Design and implement a robust performance evaluation system for office and site staff, aligning KPIs with project milestones.
  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews with department heads to identify training needs and high-potential employees.
  • Lead 360-degree feedback processes for managerial staff and implement improvement plans.
  • Manage performance improvement plans (PIPs) for underperforming staff with measurable benchmarks.

Benefits Administration:

  • Oversee competitive compensation structuring, including site allowances and hazard pay for field staff.
  • Administer employee benefits programs (HMO, pension, leave bonuses, and project completion incentives).
  • Liaise with insurance providers to negotiate annual benefit renewals and ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement employee recognition schemes (e.g., "Site Safety Champion" awards).

Strategic HR Leadership:

  • Develop and implement HR policies aligned with business objectives and labor laws.
  • Lead talent acquisition for technical and non-technical roles in a fast-paced construction environment.

Workforce Optimization:

  • Oversee performance management, including KPIs for site and office staff.
  • Design training programs to enhance skills (safety compliance, leadership, etc.).

Employee Relations & Compliance:

  • Manage industrial relations, ensuring harmony between management and unions.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with Nigeria Labor Act, pension regulations, and HSE standards.

HR Operations:

  • Streamline payroll processing and benefits administration.
  • Maintain meticulous employee records and HR analytics.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Admin, or related field.
  • 5+ years as HR Manager (construction/engineering sector preferred).
  • CIPM /SPHRi Certification is mandatory
  • Expertise in Nigerian labor laws and union negotiations.
  • Proficient in HR software (Sage, BambooHR, etc.).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience managing expatriate quotas and site workforce.
