Key Skills Required:

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Crucial for mediating disputes and fostering a positive culture.
  • Leadership & Decision-Making: Guiding staff and managing HR teams effectively.
  • Legal Knowledge: Understanding employment laws and regulations.
  • Data Analysis: Using metrics to improve retention and performance. 


Core Functions and Duties of an HR Manager:

  • Recruitment & Staffing: From job posting, finding, interviewing, and hiring the right talent for roles. So it is handling the entire hiring lifecycle, till onboarding, to find suitable staff.
  • Training & Development:  Onboarding new hires and providing continuous training and learning to upskill or improve employee skills, and facilitating career growth.
  • Performance Management: Establishing performance evaluations, setting goals, providing feedback, conducting appraisals to evaluate and improve work output to encourage productivity. 
  • Compensation & Benefits: Managing salary structures, benefits administration, bonuses, and perks to ensure competitiveness and fair compensation.
  • Employee Relations & Retention: Managing and ensuring positive company culture, resolving conflict, handling grievances, and managing disciplinary actions. Ensuring competitive compensation to retain staff.
  • Compliance & Legal: Ensuring company policies meet local, state, and federal labor regulations. Ensuring adherence to the above regulations, workplace safety, and regulations to avoid penalties and legal issues.
  • Workforce Planning & HR Strategy and Analytics: Aligning HR activities with company goals, such as workforce planning, succession planning, and DEI efforts. 


Qualifications & Certifications:  

  • Must possess B.Sc./B.A./HND, in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Sociology, or other social sciences. Higher qualifications as MBA/M.Sc. in Human Resource Management or an M.Sc. in Organizational Behaviour will be of added advantage.    
  • CIPM (Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria): CIHRM (Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Nigeria), etc is quite necessary. 
  • EXPERIENCE: Only candidates with relevant practical experience and achievements should apply.
