Acouns Laboratory and Diagnostic Centre is a molecular diagnostic centre in Ajah, Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria aimed at providing quality and dependable patient test results in order to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.


Description

  • The Laboratory Scientist is responsible for conducting accurate, reliable, and timely laboratory testing at Acouns Laboratory.
  • This role ensures strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality control measures, and regulatory standards.
  • The Laboratory Scientist performs testing, validates results, and contributes to overall laboratory efficiency and client satisfaction.
  • The role also supports continuous improvement initiatives, maintains equipment and reagent integrity, and works collaboratively with the laboratory team to ensure excellent service delivery.

Key Responsiblities

Laboratory Testing & Sample Handling:

  • Medical Tests & ExamsReceive, label, and process laboratory samples accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests following SOPs and standard protocols.
  • Ensure proper sample storage, preservation, and handling to maintain integrity.
  • Participate in multi-step laboratory workflows and assist in troubleshooting testing issues.

Quality Control & Assurance:


  • Conduct internal quality control (IQC) tests and participate in external quality assurance (EQA) programs.
  • Ensure all test results are accurate, precise, and reproducible.
  • Report any inconsistencies or deviations to the Laboratory Manager promptly.
  • Follow laboratory best practices to maintain high-quality standards.


Regulatory Compliance & Safety:

  • Nigerian job market reportsComply with regulatory standards, laboratory policies, and professional ethics.
  • Handle biological samples, chemicals, and reagents safely following biosafety guidelines.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and data protection at all times.
  • Adhere to all statutory and accreditation requirements.


Equipment Operation & Maintenance:

  • Operate laboratory instruments and equipment correctly and efficiently.
  • Perform routine calibration, cleaning, and maintenance as per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Report malfunctioning or faulty equipment promptly.
  • Support inventory checks and reagent management to avoid stock-outs.


Record Keeping & Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate test logs, QC data, and laboratory records.
  • Document all laboratory procedures and results as required for audits and accreditation.
  • Prepare reports for the Laboratory Manager when necessary.

Client Service & Result Accuracy:

  • Ensure timely delivery of test results within agreed turnaround times (TAT).
  • Review test results for accuracy before submission or release.
  • Respond professionally to queries or concerns from clients or healthcare providers.

Continuous Learning & Professional Development:


  • Participate in training sessions, workshops, and professional development activities.
  • Stay updated on new laboratory techniques, instruments, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Support mentoring and coaching of junior laboratory staff when required.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Job search portalBachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
  • Valid MLSCN practicing license
  • 2–5 years of laboratory experience
  • Knowledge of diagnostic laboratory operations and compliance frameworks
  • Experience with quality control systems, audits, or EQA participation is an advantage.

Salary

N200,000 - N250,000 per month.
