Nigeria Employers'​ Consultative Association (NECA) is the foremost business membership organization of employers in the Organised Private Sector of Nigeria. It was formed in 1957 to provide the forum for the Government to consult with private sector employers on socio-economic and labour policy issues

It provides a platform for private sector employers to interact with the government, labour, communities and other relevant institutions in and outside Nigeria for the purpose of promoting harmonious business environment that will engender productivity and prosperity for the benefit of all.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Legal and Regulatory Executive

Location: Lagos

Reports to: Director, Legal, Regulatory, and Taxation

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a highly experienced Legal Executive (10 years post-call) with strong expertise in Nigeria’s regulatory environment.
  • The ideal candidate will not only understand the law but also have practical experience engaging with regulatory agencies and key stakeholders.
  • The role requires excellent skills in compliance advisory, contract management, and policy interpretation to support NECA’s advocacy and member services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to NECA’s regulatory engagement efforts by maintaining strong relationships with government agencies and regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor, review, and interpret laws, policies, and regulations that affect employers and the business environment.
  • Provide legal and compliance advisory services to NECA and its member companies.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, MoUs, and position papers.
  • Represent NECA in regulatory discussions, policy consultations, and stakeholder forums.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, corporate governance, and reporting obligations.
  • Manage external counsel on litigation and dispute resolution.
  • Build capacity for members through training, toolkits, and updates on regulatory developments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Candidates should possess an LL.B and B.L Degree with 10 years post-call experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian regulatory laws and frameworks (corporate, employment, tax, and sectoral).
  • Proven track record of working directly with regulatory agencies and government bodies.
  • Experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and dispute management.
  • Prior experience in a membership body, regulatory agency, or advocacy-focused organization is an advantage.
