Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Officer


Location: Mainland, Lagos

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Mechanical Engineer Officer to lead and manage critical mechanical systems across our pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for driving equipment reliability, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting engineering excellence through proactive maintenance, equipment qualification, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • This role requires strong leadership, deep technical expertise, and a commitment to GMP and operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of mechanical maintenance strategies for critical manufacturing equipment and utilities.
  • Oversee the installation, qualification, and lifecycle management of mechanical assets in accordance with cGMP, WHO, and NAFDAC standards.
  • Ensure mechanical equipment reliability to minimize downtime and support production efficiency.
  • Provide technical support during external audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Lead or participate in multidisciplinary teams for engineering projects, utility upgrades, and factory expansions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of maintenance activities in line with regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by optimizing mechanical systems for energy efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Interface with validation, production, and quality assurance teams during equipment commissioning, performance qualification (PQ), and requalification.

Qualifications & Experience

  • B.Eng. or HND in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance in a pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • NABTEB.
  • Trade Test 1,2 & 3

Key Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, utilities, and engineering standards.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment servicing, repairs, and technical reporting.
  • Strong understanding of GMP and pharmaceutical regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with CMMS tools and maintenance documentation.
