Job Description

  • We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement Officer based in Port Harcourt (PH), Rivers State, Nigeria, to manage end-to-end sourcing and supplier engagement within an upstream oil & gas environment.
  • The role will focus on driving cost efficiency, ensuring timely delivery of materials and services, and maintaining compliance with industry standards and company policies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and engage suppliers for the procurement of goods and services, ensuring alignment with company standards on quality, pricing, and delivery timelines.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and commercial terms to secure optimal value while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Project teams to forecast procurement requirements and develop effective sourcing strategies.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders with accuracy across specifications, quantities, pricing, and delivery schedules.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure consistent supply and resolve any issues related to delivery or product quality.
  • Monitor procurement costs and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality, safety, or compliance standards.
  • Work closely with Inventory and Warehouse teams to maintain optimal stock levels and prevent stockouts or overstocking of critical materials.
  • Conduct market intelligence and research to stay updated on pricing trends, supplier capabilities, and product innovations.
  • Identify and mitigate procurement risks, including supply chain disruptions and price volatility, through contingency planning and supplier diversification.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and supplier performance data.
  • Evaluate vendor performance using key metrics such as delivery timelines, quality standards, and service reliability, and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and HSE (Health, Safety & Environmental) standards.


Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the oil & gas industry.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation within the upstream sector.
  • Proven negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable commercial terms.
  • High attention to detail in managing procurement documentation and contracts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to address procurement challenges proactively.
  • Proficiency in ERP/procurement systems (e.g., Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Professional certification such as CIPS is an added advantage.
  • Strong ethical standards with a commitment to transparency and integrity in procurement practices.
