Job Summary

To provide exceptional table service to hotel lodgers, ensure a warm and welcoming dining experience, and uphold the hotel’s standards of professionalism, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.


Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Guest Service:

  • Greet guests promptly, warmly, and professionally.
  • Present menus, explain menu items, and offer recommendations.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders and relay them to the kitchen and bar.
  • Serve food and drinks according to hotel standards.
  • Ensure all guests are attended to courteously and promptly.


Dining Room Operations:

  • Prepare the dining area before service (table setting, condiments, cutlery, cleanliness).
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of tables and service stations at all times.
  • Clear tables and reset them efficiently for new guests.
  • Assist with room service orders when required.


Product Knowledge:

  • Maintain excellent knowledge of the food and drink menu.
  • Understand dietary restrictions, allergens, portion sizes, and ingredients.
  • Provide accurate answers to guest questions and make informed suggestions.


Cash Handling & POS Operations:

  • Process guest bills accurately using the hotel’s POS system.
  • Handle payments (cash, card, room charge) responsibly.
  • Ensure proper record-keeping and follow financial procedures.


Communication & Teamwork:

  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, bar staff, and supervisors to ensure smooth service.
  • Report guest concerns, complaints, or special requests to management promptly.
  • Support colleagues during busy periods.


Compliance & Safety:

  • Follow all hygiene, health, and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain personal grooming and uniform standards.
  • Uphold hotel policies, service standards, and code of conduct.


Requirements:

  • Previous experience of at least 2 years as a waitress or in customer service is an advantage.
  • Minimum HND.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Good command of English (additional languages are a bonus).
  • Ideal candidate must reside in Lagos.
  • Polite, professional, and well-presented.
  • Attentive to detail and guest needs.
  • Reliable, punctual, and disciplined.
  • Strong teamwork and hospitality mindset.
