Job Title: Senior Officer, Finance & Accounting

Job Summary

  • We are currently recruiting to fill the position of Senior Officer, Finance & Accounting.
  • This role will manage the organisation’s daily finance operations, ensure compliance with local and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as well as tax and regulatory requirements in Nigeria and other African countries, and provide actionable financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • The role will oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting to support the organization’s diverse service portfolio and operations across Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Oversee daily accounting functions, including payables, receivables, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and internal reporting standards.
  • Ensure timely compliance with statutory regulations, tax requirements, and corporate governance obligations in Nigeria and other African markets.
  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning:

  • Lead the preparation of the annual budget in collaboration with departmental heads.
  • Develop rolling forecasts to support agile and forward-looking business planning.
  • Track budget performance, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Build financial models and conduct scenario planning to inform strategic decision-making

Financial Analysis & Business Insight:

  • Perform profitability and cost-benefit analyses across products and services in different African markets.
  • Monitor financial trends, KPIs, and market conditions to highlight risks, opportunities, and improvement areas.
  • Deliver data-driven insights that translate into actionable strategies for business growth.
  • Assess the financial viability of new investments, partnerships, and expansion initiatives

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure financial practices align with IFRS and applicable accounting standards.
  • Oversee tax compliance, statutory filings, and regulatory reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Identify financial and operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain up-to-date financial policies and procedures to strengthen governance.

Controls, Efficiency & Process Improvement:

  • Implement and enhance internal controls to protect resources and ensure financial discipline.
  • Drive process optimization to improve accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of finance operations.
  • Support automation and digital transformation initiatives that enhance reporting, compliance, and overall performance across African regions.

Collaboration, Advisory & Capacity Building:

  • Partner with business units to provide financial input on pricing, project feasibility, and operational strategies.
  • Equip cross-functional teams with financial insights that strengthen decision-making.
  • Provide training and coaching to non-finance managers to improve budget ownership, financial awareness, and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Must be a Chartered Accountant with professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, or CPA.
  • Minimum of 5–6 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with exposure to multi-country operations, preferably across different African regions.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial regulations, and tax laws applicable to Nigeria and African markets.
  • Proven expertise in financial planning, analysis, forecasting, and insight generation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or ERP systems).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
