Stella Maris Schools is seeking a creative, organized, and digitally savvy Social Media Manager to manage and grow the School’s social media presence and create engaging digital content that reflects our values, achievements, activities, and educational excellence.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing engaging content, managing our social media platforms, building an active online community, and ensuring that Stella Maris Schools maintains a professional, vibrant, and consistent presence across its digital channels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement a structured social media content strategy for Stella Maris Schools.
- Manage the School’s social media accounts, including content planning, scheduling, publishing, and monitoring.
- Create engaging content including posts, captions, stories, reels, short-form videos, graphics, and other digital content.
- Develop and maintain a monthly social media content calendar.
- Capture and coordinate photographs and videos of school activities, events, students, staff, achievements, and special occasions.
- Write clear, engaging, and brand-appropriate captions and social media copy.
- Highlight the School’s academic achievements, extracurricular activities, student accomplishments, staff contributions, events, and community initiatives.
- Monitor comments, messages, mentions, and other interactions across social media platforms and respond appropriately.
- Build and maintain an engaged online community of parents, prospective parents, students, alumni, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor social media trends and identify creative opportunities for relevant and timely content.
- Ensure that all content aligns with Stella Maris Schools’ brand identity, values, tone, and communication standards.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, admissions, and other departments to identify content opportunities.
- Support the promotion of school events, admission campaigns, open days, competitions, celebrations, and other institutional activities.
- Monitor social media performance and prepare regular reports on reach, engagement, audience growth, and content performance.
- Use insights and analytics to improve content strategy and audience engagement.
- Monitor the School’s online reputation and promptly escalate significant concerns or complaints to management.
- Maintain an organised digital library of photographs, videos, graphics, and other social media assets.
- Stay informed about emerging social media platforms, formats, tools, and trends relevant to the education sector.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Mass Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Digital Marketing, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in social media management, content creation, digital marketing, communications, or a similar role.
- Demonstrable experience managing social media accounts for a business, organization, school, brand, or institution.
- Strong knowledge of platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of social media content creation and audience engagement.
- Ability to create attractive and engaging visual content using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Basic photography and videography skills.
- Ability to edit short-form videos for social media platforms.
- Understanding of social media analytics and performance metrics.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Creativity, initiative, and a strong sense of visual and brand aesthetics.
- Experience working in a school or educational environment will be an advantage.
